Hyper-Caffeinated
I went to Flagstaff yesterday and had the rare treat of hanging out in not one, but two different coffee shops where I didn't know a single soul. Most of the time I love running into people I know and chatting, but sometimes it's nice to be completely and utterly anonymous.
The hubster and I had breakfast (yummy homemade quiche for me & a breakfast burrito for him) at Macy's way, way early in the a.m. A little later on I headed over to The Campus Coffee Bean, where I spent almost two hours in solitary bliss scribbling away long-hand. Dear god I delete (scratch out!) almost as much as I leave on the page. At least with the computer I don't have to see all those scribbled out sections. On the other hand, I have evidence of all the work instead of thinking "crap! I've written for hours and only have a page and a half to show!" Now I can say "crap! I've written for hours and have ten pages to show, but only a page and a half that are usable!" Ah, joys of hyper-caffeination...

You know what my problem with coffee shops is?
I hate coffee.
That could be a problem, lol! They've got other stuff, too...tea, hot chocolate, mexican hot chocolate, smoothies, steamers (steamed milk with flavored syrups). It's not impossible.
I love coffee, but I really loved being out of the house, in a cool coffee house and completely anonymous as I wrote. I dig living in a smallish town, but it was really nice to pull a Garbo in Flag.
One thing I miss in Germany is Coffee houses where you can get a good American breakfast.
Oh wow. That sounds so fantastic. I'm a little green. I'm stuck on this farm most of the time with a bunch of kids. Only time I get away is to the little house up in Ohio next to my folks, but usually have my kids with me there too.
Good by Angie and good luck.
Dude, are you okay? Good bye sounded kinda scary...here's hoping Steve's just tired over in Germany!
Zinnia, sounds like you need a mini-vacation! Living on a farm sounds awesome, but I think I'd have a hard time w/o the occasional foray into coffee house land. Maybe you could talk your kids into playing cafe with you. Yeah, that sounded dumb, but it might be fun...
zinnia, i spent 20 years stuck on a farm with kids.
trips to a city seemed overwhelming.
but now i'm in a city -- don't miss farming, but i do miss nature.
i love coffee shops -- i drink tea eat sweet stuff.
That is a very very very good looking cup of coffee.
Yeah. What kind of coffee is that?I wouldn't have a clue.
It's another thing for my list--I've never had one of those fancy-ino type coffees. sigh.
We have drive-thru fancy coffee (and slushie)places but somehow balancing a hot coffee while I drive is not my idea of fun and definitely no opportunity to write that way. ha.
I'm an admitted crosser-outter too. I write A LOT but not much survives to the end. It's fun to write with a pen on paper once in a while--I like to write with a fountain pen in composition notebooks.

Sorry, those deleted comments were mine --blogger threw some kind of tantrum and made 3 copies of my post. silly thang.
I swear my mocha at the Campus Coffee Bean looked almost exactly like that. They made it really, really pretty. The pic is actually of a cappuccino, I think.
I have to confess that I'm a "ino" coffee-holic, Dink. I've got an espresso maker at home, so I usually make my own mochas - nice to have someone else do it & make it pretty for me!
Should have said, Good night, it was getting late.
I love coffee shops, but I only drink the tea. =)
Glad to hear you were just tired, Steve! I kinda figured, but...
And of course you're a tea kinda gal, Dana. No shocker with that one.
:o)
I NEEDS me my coffee in the morning. I'm pretty picky about it, too. I need strong, rich, robust coffee. Watery coffee just pisses me off.
