Ken Bruen Interview

Suspect: Ken Bruen
Known Aliases: Benign Thug, the Pope of Galway
Occupation: Reigning King of Irish noir/hard-boiled crime fiction (that's a writer to you...)
Last Known Location: Galway, Ireland

Listen in as Ken talks about his Jack Taylor series (and how Inspector Brant is threatening to take over), the swans in Galway, and some of his more, uh, colorful book events. He also reveals (and answers) the one question he hasn't been asked that he really wants to answer - namely, what he really thinks of the Irish police.

*Original photo by Mary Regan of NYC Photo (I confess that I cropped it...sorry, Mary and Lawrence Block!)

Next week's suspect: British author, Zoƫ Sharp.

ohhhhhhh, the irony!

I have so looked forward to this interview AND have recently begun
The Magdalen Martyrs as my 4th book of 2008.

BUT

My satellite ISP doesn't function at all during bad weather and we are having very bad weather here in N.CA. so I went back to my dial-up service which doesn't function well ever but it does sorta kinda work sometimes.

It didn't do well with the interview. It paused for approximately 5-20 seconds every half dozen words or so
making my brain have to retain the first part of the words spoken and then patch them together with the next audible part of the words while attempting to listen to the next batch of audible words. My brain is too old for this kind of exercise! Some of the words seemed to fall into the abyss between the audible sections of the interview and so were lost to me.(foo!)

Well, to make a long story longer I will be scanning the skies for a break in the weather so as to attempt this again. sigh.

Thank you for what you do, angie even when I can't fully appreciate it.

I shall return. ;-)

Poor thing! Don't worry, the interview isn't going anywhere and I think you'll dig it. Actually, we talk a bit about THE MAGDALEN MARTYRS and it was pretty interesting. Weirdly enough, I reread it over the holidays (one of my faves).

Better weather stat!

FINALLY! I heard the interview.

It was GREAT! I laughed and laughed.

Speaking of laughing that's some laugh you have there, missy. Sounds DANGEROUS (in the best most fun sense of the word).

Ken Bruen RULES (at least I wish he did...rule I mean in some dark funny fabulous kingdom where "Begorra" is verboten)
